North Valleys Post-Fire Community Resource & Support Event

Are you concerned about how the fires have affected you, your family, and our community? Are you looking for answers, support, or information about resources available to help you and your loved ones get your lives back on track?

Join us from 6:30–8:00 PM for a collaborative community effort with UNR Cooperative Extension and SKCO, focused on connecting North Valleys residents with post-fire support, resources, and services.

This event is an opportunity for our community to come together, share information, listen to one another, and begin looking not only at recovery, but at how we can become stronger and better prepared for the future.

What This Event Will Provide

This gathering will provide an opportunity to:

• Connect with available post-fire recovery resources and support services

• Get answers to questions about recovery and available assistance

• Share your concerns, needs, and experiences

• Connect with organizations and community partners

• Help organizations better understand the needs of our community

• Build stronger connections as we continue the recovery process

• Learn about wildfire preparedness, mitigation, and community resilience

• Explore how neighborhoods can work together to reduce wildfire risk

Silver Knolls Is Leading the Way

Silver Knolls is already a recognized Firewise USA® community, and SKCO has been working to help our residents prepare for wildfire, reduce risk, and build a more resilient community.

The Firewise USA® program, administered by the National Fire Protection Association, provides a framework for neighbors to work together to reduce wildfire risk to homes and throughout their community. Firewise communities assess their wildfire risk, develop action plans, and take meaningful steps to improve their preparedness and resilience.

Building a Fire Adapted Community

A Fire Adapted Community takes a broader, community-wide approach to living safely with wildfire. Residents, neighborhoods, fire agencies, local governments, businesses, and community organizations all have a role in preparing for wildfire, reducing risk, improving response, and strengthening recovery.

If your neighborhood is interested in pursuing Firewise USA® recognition, we can help you understand the process, connect with resources and partners, and work with your neighbors to develop a plan for reducing wildfire risk.

Silver Knolls has already taken these steps, and we want to share what we've learned with other neighborhoods throughout the North Valleys. By working together, we can help more neighborhoods become recognized Firewise communities and build a more fire-adapted and resilient North Valleys.
